Among the first things a lot of organizations did when the recession hit was to cut their marketing budget. Marketing agency's and brand consultants were no longer demanded, but now that the recession is finally getting better most organizations are pouring funds back into marketing. Finding a marketing agency is very easy, there are plenty around, and the majority of can be discovered using the net.

I think we're all guilty of undervaluing everyone - including ourselves. But I suppose that's the price for choosing to be at either end of such a subjective industry, where our "value" at negotiating time is 95% brand reputation and 5% hard goods. I've often thought selling physical stuff would be much easier than my nebulous "brand strategy" gig. But alas, I'm bound to it because I love it.

Food for thought: It's not just marketers who undervalue their work, but the agencies. They do, after all, actually agree to the terms requested.

Hmm. I'm not sure what you're saying here Rohit. That agencies would be chasing customers away or that we'd be moving to 30 second meals?

Well, if restaurants charge like creative agencies, then customers would be in the restaurants for much lesser time than for what it takes for an creative ad which is shown in the television
